RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
Racial
discrimination in human resources is a pervasive issue that can have severe
consequences for both individuals and organizations. It is essential to address
this problem proactively to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace. We
can say that most of the issues related with discrimination are bias in recruitment
and hiring where recruiters favor candidates from one racial or ethnic. Some recruiters
pick candidates based on their skin color, race, religion and how they look
like. This may lead to lack of diversity within the organization. Thus, some of
organizations may have discrimination in promoting and advancement, where employee
hard to climb over the hardships to get the advancement or promotions just
because of their race, skin color or religion. The employee may also hard to
grow their skills and professionalism since the company did not give them any
chances to try something new or promoting them which can lead to unhealthy job environment.
There
a few solutions I can come out with which are:
1. Try
to implement a blind recruitment practices, where recruiters do not know what
race, skin color or religion possess by the candidates. Other than that,
organizations can also use a diverse hiring panels and provide anti bias
training to those who involved in the hiring process to reduce bias and we can
also promote diversity.
2. An
organization can states a clear promotion criteria on no matter what color skin
you have, you will be treat the same like other people. The organization also
can provide an equal access to growth where employees will be given any
projects regardless the races and sponsorship programs to supports the development
of underrepresented employees.
